Totally understood my friend 🙂  If you roughly sketch something and send it on to me I can sketchup a drawing with layout worked out for you. 🙂  I assume by 9″ it’ll be something along the lines of a Record 52 vise and – if fitting outside the leg I’d tend to increase overhang to somewhere in the region of 14″, as (According to Record literature) a 9″ vise can normally tolerate a clamping width (Jaw liners) equal double it’s nominal jaw width with minimal racking.

I tend to keep vises inside or on the leg, as this keeps weight within the area of the main frame.
