Decided to start to make some trestles to aid in projects. I was reading one of Krenovs books and saw a picture of these. I had some scrap 1×2 cherry in various lengths and decided to use them for this, better than throwing them away.
Morticed the legs into the feet today. Next is to mortice the cross rails.
Hey Dave, good to see you back here after so long. I can’t figure out what the trestles will do. Will they look like and “I” when finished? And how will they be used?
Two legs will be joined by a thru tenoned cross rail and then a replaceable rail on top. They can be used to store lumber, project pieces, you can put a sheet of ply on top for an assembly table, etc.
I’ve been lurking for a while, still here but haven’t been posting cause of computer problems, but that’s fixed now!
Finished the joinery tonight after work. There’s a couple things I wanted to work on with this project. Practice my mortices and detailing of the end project. Yes these are just trestles used to hold project materials and act as an assembly table with a piece of plywood on top but I am using this to practice.
Nice going, Dave. I’m sure those will come in handy lots of times.
