Construction timber (pine) from local builder’s merchant; finished with 3 coats of antique pine tint Danish Oil and waxed. Taking the 1/2 inch off the back legs made a real difference to the comfort of the chair.
Dining chair in Douglas Fir, finished with shellac and wax.

Cherry and Italian leather
Finished chair for my daughter, made out of spruce, painted with basil color milk paint, upholstered with real leather, a beauty! A chair that may last for two centuries, for sure.
My first more involved type project. This is local (Ohio) Black Walnut. I decided to use slats with knots for visual appeal (not sure?). Solely through my own stupidity, I must have make 3 sets of the combination angle bottom rails. Maybe it will help you, but I kept cutting these rails to the distance between the front to the rear legs. Of course, when I formed their tenons the rails were short. I really needed to cut length of the rail length PLUS the length of its 2 tenons!!!
