French oak with cherry wedges. A ‘character’ board, with a knot on the edge that had to be smoothed out with a rasp.

Walnut Footstool was my first attempt at spokeshaving. I used slightly over dimensioned stock for my footstool and I think it looks pretty animated. I can’t wait to make another one of these to work on technique. So much fun.

Oak & Walnut wedges and bowties. The wood was all from a bed headboard.

Black walnut footstool finished with blonde shellac. I used maple for the wedges to add a little contrast. The first piece of furniture I’ve made.

Pine top with gum tree branch legs and sheoak wedges. Finished with varnish after this.

Really enjoyed this project and hope to make more with my kids. Seemed to finish very quickly. Oak for legs and seat and cherry scraps for the wedges. Finished with 6 coats of linseed oil. Made as a gift.

Footstool made with ash from a diseased tree I cut down a few years ago. Wedged with mahogany scraps. Finished with shellac and wax. Birthday present hence the ribbon.
