Frame saw, new to wood working, first thing I have ever made. Used pine as didn’t expect to get it finished first time round. Paul is a great teacher and so clear and detailed. Thank you

The design is relatively standard and I purchased the hardware, but it did come out beautifully.

This is my version of the frame saw. While it is mostly based on the one on this site, I have modified the blade attachment. I needed a saw to quarter saw a log of Silky Oak so my design allows the blade to be turned at 90 degrees to the normal. Th handle was required to apply the force along the blade in this configuration. The blade is 600 mm long with 10 tpi.

I made the frame saw from oak that used to be a big doorstep from a building I worked on. It is very much 1:1 to Paul’s frame saw, only it’s fitted to a longer and wider blade.

Frame Saw from the Grammercy Saw Kit. Wood was straight grained cherry I had just laying about. Fun project. I love love love making my own tools. Thanks Paul for teaching us how.
Frame Saw by Trevor Molyneux
Modified Gramercy Frame Saw. The frame is made from beech finished in a clear shellac. All fittings are solid brass. I decided to make a more elaborate tension adjustment that didn’t twist a looped cord but without using a threaded rod, so I made a hybrid of the two. I used 2mm dynema thread which doesn’t stretch to keep the length of threaded adjustment manageable. A modern twist to a traditional design. Having been pleased with the result, I will make larger and heavier duty ones using the same design.
