This is my second rocking chair, made for the parents in law. The wood alder and I got it from an ancient water powered saw mill in south east Germany. The seat I built based on a 25 steel springs prefabricated core, padded with canvas, polymeric fibre, fleece and a covering of natural leather. This time the rocker are steamed and bend instead of laminated. Great fun, again and a browny with the inlaws ;_)

Rocking Chair by Drechsler Norbert Pauli
This is my third Paul Sellers Rocker and its made of American Black Walnut. The seat is made of a built beech wood frame with belt webbing, coconut fiber upholstery and a leather cover. I oiled and waxed as a finish, looking however for alternatives that allow the wood to show more of its personality. As with this third built I found my attention to expand and cover aspects like the wood surface in more detail then before. Not getting boring yet. Still an universe to discover.

Two rockers and table for the front porch in Northern white cedar
Rocking Chair by Norbert Pauli
This rocker I designed and built over the past 9 month. The picture is showing the dry fit (seat to frame). Even though completely different in appearance, the geometry of Paul’s Craft man style Rocker influenced it strongly. It’s all baby steps and it began with discovering woodworking masterclasses for me in 2015.
This is a hand made Rocking Chair with mortise and tenon joinery and a carved seat and backrest.

Made from white oak. My wife wanted to put it on the front porch, so I put a wooden seat on it and finished it with clear boat varnish (TotalBoat epoxy). Once I finished it she decided she wanted it inside 🙂

I had a change to buy an old big birch log 4 1/2 years ago that was going to be burned. I got plenty of great wood and that log was curly birch! For rocking chairs I did steam bending year ago and now during this situation I had plenty of time to finish the project. Leather seats and wood is finished with clear shellac. My first chairs and it was lots of work but I’m very happy with the result.

Even the dog (Mr. Darcy) likes it! Made from white oak. Finished with Danish oil and paste wax.

This white oak footstool is the final piece of furniture for the nursery I built for my daughter. Thanks to Paul and team I now have an entire room full of heirlooms I can pass on to my daughter when she has children of her own. I can’t thank you enough.

Rocking Chair by Drechsler Norbert Pauli
It’s a Shaker style Rocking chair made of oak which I ripped from a massive 60 mm plank. Most of this projects parts are made on the lathe. The arm rests I like to have bookmatched. The back legs are steam bend so are the slats of the back rest. The seat has a webbing of cotton ribbon in a herring bone pattern of blue and gray. The original material actually is called Shaker tape. More detail might be found at Drechsler-Norbert-Pauli.
