Four Planes by John Moe
I started making wood planes last winter out of white birch from my own land. White oak and butter nut for knobs and totes. I love the way they work. the last one, inspired by Paul’s blog about the idea, from parts of a broken #5 Bailey that came with my bedrock 607 bought on craigslist. I was going to make knew tote and knob but couldn’t bear to separate those parts that had been one plane for more than 110 years. I liked the look of Paul’s design better than mine but wanted to use the knob. I love my wood planes, so light and so much less friction.
