Once that is set you can put a couple of layers of masking tape on the front of the mouth (through the mouth opening and stuck to the sole and inside the casting forward of the mouth opening. Then assemble the iron/chip breaker assembly to the plane, set the blade to protrude just slightly, and adjust the frog forward until the blade touches the tape evenly all the way across and tighten the frog screws. You can vary the mouth opening buy using more or less layers of tape. Once you’ve done this a couple times you won’t need the tape but it will show you what it should look like for a fine shaving. If it still jams add another piece of tape and try again.
Another thing to pay attention to with these problems is where the jam is happening. If the shaving is wedging between the iron and chip breaker it isn’t the mouth that’s causing the problem, it’s the angle on the underside of the chip breaker. Easy fix on the course diamond plate or a single cut file, just relieve the angle so the front edge touches before the heel of the bevel on the under side of the chip breaker.
