Life delayed updates. As you can see in the pictures chair three came all to pieces. I was able to successfully finish a clean split on chair 3 with some very careful chisel work. on had to super glue a very small sliver back in place. Finally having a proper, if cheap wood vise has been very nice. I installed it just before starting on chair three. The seat went together nicely using rub joints again. While it was drying I knocked out a few use tools from the video library. The not-so-poor man’s router is a blog entry by Paul and quite nice.
Chair 4 came apart a little different. The legs came free as solid piece and the back rails were still pretty solid. I only had to contend with 2 splits in the seat and re-gluing the legs. I might have been able to do it with out removing the legs but since they came out I am happy with it.
I decided to go with clamps again on chair 4 since the back was going to counter stress the joints. PS Waney clamp pads are prefect for dealing with the rounded seat. Should have made them for chair one.
