The most likely reason your having trouble getting an answer is the thread pitch angle issue with older Record planes. The older planes have tote screws that are cut to “Whitworth” pitch. That may not be the correct name as I have seen it in a couple variations. However, the angle of the faces of the threads are different from what we commonly use now. You really need to know what you have because they are close enough to appear to thread in, but are damaging your existing threads.
