Well, I gave it another go. Made sure that the frog was flush with the mouth and that the adjustment screw was tightened (it was very loose before) also reduced the gap between the end of the chip breaker and cutting iron to 1/64th as it was about 1/32nd before. Reassembled everything and unfortunately it’s still not very good. I’m really not sure what I’m doing wrong. I’ll perhaps take a few photos and post them to see if anyone can see anything obvious. I resharpened the blade as well and managed to shave some hairs with that too, so I don’t think it’s the cutting iron. GRRRRR!
