Here is a link to Peter Follansbee’s blog. He has a come-what-may approach to woodworking and turns out phenomenal work.
Please take look.
http://pfollansbee.wordpress.comGreg,
I just spent 2 hours reading Follansbee’s blog you posted. Thanks for that. (Ken is right about addiction). You did notice that big CNC Carving machine in the back of one photo (Just Kidding).
He’s dedicated to 17th & 18th century methods. Very little sawed work, really into the split it out and plane it philosophy (riven wood). Carvings are intricate but at the same time approaching medieval. What I mean by that is he strives for overall appearance not mathematical symmetry with the carving details, but he’s replicating the period and I get it.
It seems we go forward and backwards through out history. Some of the wooden furniture that came out of King Tut’s tomb is as modern as anything we make today. (Mortise and tenon joinery and turnings,… Nothing new under the sun).
On another note, good for encouraging Ken to sharpen his saws. It makes a big difference.

22 November 2013 at 1:26 pm #22014Thanks David. My spoons are OK…but…Follansbee has the benefit of selling to a dedicated fan base.
Thanks again for the encouragement David.22 November 2013 at 1:28 pm #22015Joe…your welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. An entirely different approach to the craft.
