I figured I’d stop lurking and show some of my boxes. You have all inspired me, and now I can’t find enough shop time.
One box is a chisel box with a fitted lid made of cherry. Several family and friends have asked me how I could leave something so nice in the garage filled with chisels. Hopefully it’s the beginning of a trend.
Second box is the shaker candle box from Paul’s book/DVD made of pine. I’m going to give it to my daughter to store her crayons. It will soon likely be painted pink or purple.
Until recently, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with dovetails, and decided it was a joint I would never do. I had made several failed attempts to learn on my own, and finally took a local class that resulted in even worse dovetails. When I watched Paul, something clicked. I can’t even say what it was. Now my dovetails are tight. In fact, now I need to make them not so tight. I found out the hard way that if you compress the leading edge of a tail too much, it will fracture and leave a little hole. (I can send a pict showing you what mean if you’re interested.)

Thanks everyone for your kind words.
@nikond80, truth be known, I’m not completely in love with the form of the candle box and it doesn’t really fit my wife’s decor. I built the box knowing that it would store crayons, and that it would be painted. If paul can paint dovetails, I can too. But now that it’s made, I kinda like it. I’ll probably make a second box and not paint it.Regards!
