Dovetail joints have always been interesting to me. When I got serious about building some things the first thing I did was run out and buy a expensive dovetail jig. I made several boxes and it was fun to use. Then I started looking for ways to customize my own dovetail designs. So I made a few jigs from wood and they worked great. But when I saw how really easy it is to cut them by hand, I haven’t taken my jigs down off the shelf. However, If I have several boxes to build and a limited amount of time, I still use my custom made jigs. There are uses for both. Here is a Hope Chest I made for my granddaughter using one of my custom jigs.. Looks like hand cut to the untrained eye?
