Used some various lengths of pine board I had laying around to make a simple hallway coat rack hanger. The pegs I bought locally and just wedged them into 3/4 inch holes. I used some garnet flakes shellac as a sealer which gave some Amber tone to the wood then followed it up with a couple applications of liberion antique pine wax. I really like the finish that results. It give the pine a really aged look.

Matthew, no secret, I just remember my dad’s favourite quip to me when I was a kid, “stop lollygaggin” 🙂
As far as planning this goes, Paul once said, learn the three joints and you can build anything. This is project can be done in a couple hours it’s so simple. It’s just dovetails, some shaping and finishing. I make it a point to get an hour in each day as a wind down from my job.
@delong1974 that’s my tool box I made last year. It’s hung now.

Frankj6 November 2014 at 4:19 am #120641I love it simplistic and elegant, I adore those shaker style pegs very well done old boy. Btw you can get the same finish if you apply the minwax oil based stain (oak). I wouldn’t mind giving those garnet flakes a go but I can’t them here in Oz.
