hi all have any of the UK members ever used the small axe from Aldi as they are on sale this week and i was wondering if to give one a try or not i already have a couple of axes but if these are anything like their chisels i would get one, i dont think £5 is a risk though .
Ooh, I didn’t see that when I was in today or I would have snapped it up, thanks for the pointer!
I’ve not seen it, but i’m almost certain it’s blunt, roughly machined, but completely fixable as that tends to be the way with things like this.
I looked at it It has a plastic handle with a rubber grip i could not see the cutting edge but what i could see looked and felt fine, Go for it Eddy
i did David the cutting edge wasnt great so i took an 8″ mill file to it its sharp now, when the bleeding stops in my index finger i will test it out lol, i recommend using a !0″ file at least you can keep your fingers away from the sharp edge now i will turn a handle for my file before using it again.
Really should not use a file on axe.
You will ruin your file in no time.
Use abrasive paper work up the grits use Diamond plates or stones to finish.
just following Pauls advice Mark as i dont have the diamond plates yet
