hi all, have recently seen a No4 plane for sale with the brand name “anchor” on the lever cap, it also claims to be made in sweden, apparently they went out of business sometime in the 60s, does anyone here have any first hand knowledge of these planes by chance? we are not without several different reliable brands (record and stanley of course, and some australian brands like carter and falcon pope) in the second hand tool Market in New Zealand but have never seen one of these before.
thanks all and any.
Hi! Being from sweden I’m well familiar with Anchor planes. Good quality! I suppose the steel is marked either “järnbolaget” or “E A Berg”
Made in Eskilstuna, just like a lot of the swedish planes and chisels. This area is for sweden what Sheffield is for England.
Nice that it has found its way to New Zealand! I got some Anchor planes in different sizes, and they are all good workmates!
