Have some questions about Danish oil.

    1) What is the best way to apply it?

    2) Can you put wax on a surface that has any kind of oil on it?

    Hi Juryaan,

Danish oil can be applied by cloth, sponge applicator or brush.  Apply sparingly (Thin coats) and it dries faster.  It’s a drying oil and can be overcoated with wax once it’s dried.

Can you apply  oil over shellac and then wax it?

Or is this totally unnecessary for the looks of the wood?

You can apply shellac over oil and wax it. But the shellac would seal the wood, and as oil is penetrating, I think the oil over shellac would be a no no

    Thank you Ken.

If i understand correctly the shellac makes it more water resistant.

Does it affect the color of the oil much.

I like the look of a oil finish but want it to be more resistant.
