Are York QR vises still unreliable in 2022?

I am about to build Paul’s traditional English workbench and have both the 10 1/2” York QR vise and the 10” Eclipse QR vise. Aside from the different quick release mechanisms, the York appears to be better made. I was wondering which to install on my bench. Does anyone know whether the York still has the problems that Paul found?
Either works and both need periodic maintenance the record is the stronger of the two I bent the rods on the York mortising. My record knockoff is wearing in the threads. And the release lever needs a lot of attention and lubeing.
I am about to hang a wooden one on the bench to give it a try. I am searching for an ancient record.
