I have been rebuilding my Morecambe Bay Prawner – a plastic nobby – (one of the five or so built with a glass hull and wooden topsides) for a while now, and thanks to Paul have improved my craftsmanship immensely. I took a fortnight’s leave towards the end of last month and managed to fit some strengthening boards between frames. I thought I’d show pictures of some of the work I’ve been doing.
The hull had been completely stripped and all the wooden bits you can see in the background have been done by me. I am almost ready to start laying a deck and then work on the coachroof starts.
If there are any other amateur boatbuilders, I’d be glad to start a boatbuilding thread…

One of these days, if I ever get all my projects caught up, I’m going to build a sailboat.

How far from Liverpool will you be able to go in her when finished22 May 2013 at 10:52 am #12310Thanks, David and Steve – well, only really the Irish Sea and around Britain, due mainly to living space arrangements – the boat is more heavily built than the boat I am living in, I have just noticed!
Having said that, it is not impossible to travel much further afield. Have a look at Mingming on google, and you’ll see what I mean!
@ Steve: Be careful, it is a LOT more time-consuming than you think! I came out of the water in 2006 for a two week job to sort out a little rotten patch on the deck which turned into a complete rebuild. 🙂
