Hello all 🙂 I’m in the final stages of building the hallway tree (FINALLY!!) One of the last things I’m doing to it is to put a small engraving of the customer’s initials carved into a piece of wood that’s going to be inlayed into the bottom of the lid. I’ve got the wood stained and the letters painted with latex paint to match the tree, but I didn’t think far enough ahead as to what to finish the piece of wood with. All I have at the moment is brush-on lacquer. Is this a bad idea?

P.S. I forgot I also have some homemade spoon butter, too. Could this work instead, just on the wood engraving?
