I bought my “cheap” aluminum clamps similar to Paul’s from Harbor Freight here in the States and retrofitted them like he did, they work great. I don’t even use my expensive and heavy Bessies anymore, probably need to sell them eventually.
By the way I enjoyed the video by Mike Seimsmen on his Nicholson style bench he also does a great job on teaching and is very knowledgeable on Hand Saws.

I picked up mine from Tools for Working Wood. https://www.toolsforworkingwood.com/store/dept/TL/item/MS-ABAR.XX
Not sure what to do with my old heavy clamps now.
I bought one 600mm clamp from that link provided above which I intend to use as a dogging system like Paul does. It’s an excellent clamp but you need to insert a length of timber for added strength. The price is $18 plus $15 for shipping so $33 is the clamp not sure how much the shipping would be for a set of four. Still I reckon its worth the buy as its cheap compared to every where else.
I just noticed the link is gone maybe I’ve posted in the wrong thread but look elraco distributors.
The Elraco link works for me. Their postage is more or less a flat rate, so it’s better to buy multiple clamps at the same time. They’re really very cheap for clamps in Australia, even with the postage factored in. When I have a few dinero back in my shop budget I might put in an order for 4 of the 4ft ones.
Thanks for the link. Also been looking for clamps without paying the ‘Australia tax’
Thanks for your help Salko. We are the woodwork clamp supplier, the brand name is KLAMP TOOL, our price is very cheap, regarding the quality, we are the supplier for more than 10 brands, maybe the link will help someone. https://www.klamptool.com
Amazon lists cheap pipe clamp heads at about $60 for four.

I’ve been using these 24″ & 36″ aluminium clamps for about 6 months. I fettled & added plywood as per Paul’s recommendations & they are great. Cheapest I could find in AU.
