I went to a well known hardware store/Home centre, today for some bits and pieces. The price of their timber is sky high, and the quality is very poor.
Anyway I got my bits and pieces, and paid with my debit card, one thing I never do is check my receipt, yeah I know, but this time for some reason I did under my transactions was £50-00 cash back. I said to the young guy on the till whats this, he said oh its just a till error don’t worry about it.
Like hell, I got the store manager, It took a good hour to sort it out.
So if you are like me and don’t check your receipt, next time remember this 😉
9 December 2013 at 10:18 pm #23419I feel your pain Ken, I do look at my receipts and have caught mistakes also. Grrrr, plus and unfortunately for me we have the “Borg” where I live which is the only game in town and the “crap” they sell and what they sell it for is a sin.
Sorry didn’t mean to go on a rant but I have no choice if I want to stay in this fine Hobby which I am not willing to give up so I put up with it.

11 December 2013 at 4:42 pm #23641Businesses in the states are trying to save money by not giving receipts to customers who don’t want them. Yeah, I know, if the paper the receipt is printed on is a significant cost of the transaction you’re doing SOMETHING wrong.
Anyway the custom these days is to ask the customer who just gave you his credit card “Do you want a receipt?”
Who in the WORLD would say “No” and what are they telling everyone? “No, I don’t care about the details of this financial transaction and I know I won’t be checking for accuracy any time soon so you just ring me up without telling me what you’re doing and we’re good.”
No wonder identity theft is on the rise.
