12 x 15 inches. I didn’t have enough Cherry for the bottom so I opted to make it out of Poplar. I could not come up with a stain that suited me so gave up and painted it with black milk paint.
I’m curious to know whether people like the contrast or not.
That’s beautifully made and finished, Ken. Gorgeous panel construction on the lid. I like the contrast – it looks like a pediment and gives the piece visual weight. Working around material constraints often leads to fun discoveries like that!

The desk box looks nicely finished! As stated above, the dark paint on the bottom really sets off the cherry sides.
I had to go look up what a desk box was and now I am really intrigued. (Hint: it’s not just a box on the desk.)
