correcting mistakes

hi everyone i’ve just made a mistake one a cane handle it was getting on to 10-55 pm i was tired and i should of left it till tomorrow but without checking the width of my wedges i just glued them and tapped them home only to doscover on of them left a gap of about 3mm ,my question is do i try to hide it with glue and sawdust or do i drill into it and pull it out and replace it , i know its only a cane but its annoyed me silly mistake
I’m with cliff on this one and I’ve been where you are many of times.
