Hi all, I’m new here and really looking forward to starting my new hobby as a woodworker. I’ve been building my collection of tools but have yet to splash out on some sharpening plates. I see Paul Sellers recommends Eze Lap or DMT, can anyone recommend a webshop to get them and what size (6″ or 8″) plates please.
Thanks
I just bought a Trend Diamond plate…haven’t used it yet but it looks much better quality than my old DMT, (Which wore out quicker than I thought it would) both are 8″..bought it on Amazon. ..
The recommended size is 8″ by 3″ (200mm by 75mm) and while there are a couple of makes available, some have what looks like a mesh on top, where I wanted a smooth surface, so I went with Eze-Lap products. Their little hand held diamond hones are excellent too by the way.
I bought mine at a combination of:

and
http://www.tyzacktools.com/products/572-eze-lap-86-series-diamond-sharpening-stone.aspx
depending on stock availability.
Mine are now sitting in their new holder I just finished last week.
