Double Pinned Scriber

Hi everyone,
Found this double pinned scriber in my local antiques shop the other day. I haven’t ever seen one of these before. It seems like a pretty good idea at first but I can’t think of a strong advantage. If its to save on space by having only one tool it doesn’t really do it because its an odd shape. Maybe if there is a project that you make a lot, where there’s two gauge lines it would be useful. Because you could just have this one tool that’s always pre-set and you know there for the same project.

I’m not sure what it is used for but it looks like one shown in a japanese woodworking book.
