I am making a small tool box for fitting under my bench to go along side the existing one which is twice the size. Although I have not made the tool chest Paul has just completed I did copy the design he used in making the drawer , this was my first go at making a half lap dovetail I was pleased with the outcome. The main issue is the time it took, I found it took for ever to cut the joints.
David the drawer looks very good. Well done. Speed eludes me as well.
Thanks guys for your kind comments , Can anybody identify the wood used for the drawer front , It came in a pack of wood I bought from British Hardwoods at the Doncaster show . There were two boards of this wood the others were Oak.
Hi Franco
They had various packs of wood for sale at the Doncaster show The pack I bought for £10 was mainly Oak ( Used some for making the two walking sticks)and two boards of the unknown wood I though it might have been Ash
Hello David,
Nice tool box – I’d say it was Ash too.
Cheers, Paul.
Great looking drawer!!
The ash you guys get in England is different than the ash we get here in the states. It looks like the grain is more pronounced, than the ash I have. Hard stuff indeed! But it is easy to shape with a spokeshave and rasp.
Thanks for sharing!!
I like that chisel tray David. The addition of the double bead is a nice touch. The under bench storage cabinet look very nice as well.
