Finished a simple bookend

This started as a dovetail practice with some poplar off cuts and ended up turning it into a bookend. The basic construction is the same as Paul’s craftsman style bookend but without the brace piece or decorative bits.

One achievement I made with this project is that I never used a power tool on it. By that I mean I’ll usually rough cut wood down to size with a bandsaw or use a sander because I lack confidence finish planing. But I cut this to size, planed it true and smooth all by hand. It was very rewarding.
