Hello – I’m working on a pair of Japanese saw horses and my mortise and tenon joints are a little loose. One or two come apart just by picking them up. The rest of the project calls for draw bore pins.
My question is: would I be better off with wedged tenons?
I was thinking wedged tenons might be a little better for sloppy joints.
Thanks
Hi,
Another option is to glue a thin piece of wood on both cheeks of your tenon, effectively “fattening” your tenon. Then plane the cheeks with the router plane until you get a tight fit.
Got this tip from Paul himself when I took 9-day course in Wales.
Good luck.
