When Paul Sellers tells you to ‘go for it’ when you encounter knots where your saw line will be…you just go for it… This is from the bench stool project I am currently working. It’s a waste piece from the compound cut of one of the legs at the top rail.
I think (hope?) that by epoxying the knot prior to making this cut, that I’ve stabilized the different moisture contents between the surrounding wood and the knot… at least that’s the working assumption. It’s at the top end of a leg where the seat attaches to the stool, so, by stabilizing the knot, and location, I am minimizing movement.
