Last week i acquired a no.5 anant plane. It’s a new line model A+ i decided to give it a try.
I liked what i found: sole is flat that required only five minutes to lap with 120 grit sand paper, bearing surfaces between frog and plate was good also. Down points are : abit of slack and….the blade itself: the edge is out of flat when compared with iron sides. after that i tested steel hardness with a file and the result was the steel was hardened only 3n or4 four mm from the edge. So i decided to buy a new iron..but which i have to buy?? Next posts i will show some pictures with pros and cons of this cheap plane
