this is the response i’ve had from the manufacturer of the thor 712 in relation to our north American members not being able to get there hands on the 712.
” I am currently in negotiation with a large North American distributor to stock and sell this product, negotiations should be complete early in the New Year and I will advise details as soon as possible.”

Thor Hammer Company Limited
Hi Eddy,
I posted this in one of the other forums: There is an eBay (US) company BigRedToolboxUS. They not only carry the Thorex 712 and replacement heads, they also stock the Stanley 598 knife & replacement blades and a good selection of Bahco products (files, coping saws & blades, and axes). From what I understand, some of their products are shipped from the USA and some (probably all of the above) from the UK. Best of all, it’s all free shipping. Hope this helps some folks out.

Lander, Wyoming8 January 2015 at 2:58 pm #123240I realize this discussion is a couple weeks old, but I thought I would mention that I inadvertently bought this hammer recently from the company that Gary mentioned above. BigredtoolboxUS sells on AMazon as well, as that is where I purchased it.
Hi Mike,
This may be the distributor that Eddy was referring to: I received an email sales flyer yesterday from Highland Woodworking in Atlanta. They now stock the Thorex 712 (although the only version they list was the nylon handled version) for $39.00. Incidentally, this is the same company that carries that wonderful #7 gouge that Paul favors. I’ve done business with them in the past & they are a great company with tremendous customer service. Now if they’ll just carry the wood-handled version and the Stanley 598 knife….. -
