Would be interesting to sit and listen to what Paul thinks about various species in his unique perspective. Obviously he likes mesquite. Are there any woods that he finds particularly troublesome for hand tool work (or at least for beginners?), or any that he particularly recommends? I have an opportunity to get a load of silver birch and i went looking to see if Paul has ever said anything about that species but came up empty. I think he’s made some comments across the furniture videos (e.g. i believe he said beech has a tendency to twist at one point, and he’s mentioned the hardness of growth rings in pine), but it’s not easy to find this info.
I think it’d make great content just to sit and listen to Paul describe how certain woods feel and behave under the plane or chisel or if they tend to be chippy or warp, etc.
