Maple, 200mm wide and 35mm thick, 2m long. I am edge joining 4 of these panels to make a table top. Is this crack going to ruin my day?
Depends if it has finished moving. How far along the board is it, and how long is the split?
If you put a clamp on it can you close it up?
If you can’t close it, and it’s not still moving, I’d put some wood glue and sawdust in there.
If you can close it up with a clamp, some wood glue in it and clamp it. Might open up again though (either side, or a new split), as the wood needs to release pressure.
Darren.
Just noticed it when flattening the face. It has three broken pieces like that about 2” part in a line. Cannot say if it is moving yet. Will clamp and check.
