Keen Kutter Number 88 This is a 26″, 8PPI panel saw. It is in as found condition with a medium patina overall, but it is a well cared for saw with a straight blade. The handle is a wheat carved applewood handle, presumably made by Disston. Just needs a light cleaning and sharpening and you will have a first quality saw for much less than if it was actually marked Disston. This saw is from Tom Law’s personal collection.
I’m entriely sure what year it is it could be prior to 1928 or 1930 but not anymore than that. I’m glad to own and put to use yet one more tool from the past, I now have two corsscut saws one for softwood and now one for hardwood.

Buying old saws for next to nothing at garage/estate sales and bringing them back to life is a great pleasure for me. Enjoy!

Cheers
2 October 2014 at 4:12 am #118807I contacted the Antique dealer and he told me the saw is between 1900-1920 not anymore than that so I’m even stoked (happy) about it. Stoked is an Aussie slang for beyond happy. lol
6 October 2014 at 8:20 am #118970Well there you have it we are Americanised through and through, looks to me there is nothing Australian about Australia. The Gold Coast from Miami to Palm Beach has been named to imitate Miami even the streets are named the same as yours. So do I get to vote in your next election, I will send my ballot in a bottle and thow it in the ocean.

Oldest I have probably about 70 years old and works wonderfully. 😉Great find! I just found one today here in New York City (area) for $15.00 plus another $15 for a great Brace with 2 bits. Mine is a Disston 23 – 26″ @ 8 points. It is in great condition with a really sharp teeth. A little apple cider vinegar quickly got all the rust off. I then applied a coat of 3:1 oil from my Olive can a la Paul. These saws are great.
Cheers,
