I made this small box as a leaving present for one of my wife’s workers who was going on to pastures new.

It’s about 200mm long, made from rimu and spalted beech. The inside is lined with cedar, reused from some old wooden venetian blinds, and the floor is covered with black suede leather. The corner splines are ash.

The copper on the top I etched with a design of the Manaia, a creature from Maori myth, a guide between worlds.
