The walnut planed by hand done surprisingly well with interlocking grain round the knots. Used Stanley No. 3 and my Stanley premium No. 4 and card scraper 240 grit paper.
Had type face on a bit of paper then used carbon paper yes like you used to use on typewriter. You can still get it. Handy for applying patterns to your projects.
The writing and the edge moulding done by electric router I’m afraid 3/16″ straight bit and a 1/4″ ovolo . My carving skills pretty non existent.

David it’s not that hard you have just got to take your time. The Plaque writing took me about 20 minutes. Took me 2 hours to plane timber. About 5 minute to do ovolo.
A lot of woodworkers use electric router to do inlay work. You can get straight bits as small as 1/16″.
The electric router very versatile tool. Its worth having one. I got about six of different sizes.
They still do not beat the feeling of doing something by hand.
