Hi all
Went to use my marking gauge today for the first time in months and the stock has wedged shut. I had to use a mallet to get the thing off. I’ve sanded the handle but it’s still extremely stiff. Obviously not being used in months and moisture as swollen the wood but is there a fix for this? I need it as I’m about to fix the legs of my workbench to the apron.
Thanks all.
Hi Seajay, when I had that problem, I took the stock off the handle and let them both dry out completely in a dry atmosphere ( I left them in the sun for a day), then I gave the handle a good rub with candle wax and polished it in with a cloth. That cured the problem, it has worked well ever since.
