Made a spoon as a wedding gift for a friend. I got a little eager and cut out the design first before I carved the bowl. Clamping it to the bench worked well, but having it in the vice is always easier.
The spoon is nicely done, I really like the handle design. I have to agree it is always easier if you can use the vice, but you have displayed some wood working versatility and come up with a workable solution.
Nice job! That stuff is pretty but really tough to work, especially to the finish you’ve achieved.
Beautiful and well done; I second the opinions of the others above in that the finish is lovely and the sweep of the handle is also very attractive. Looking forward to working with mesquite someday myself and this spoon illustrates many of the reasons why.
@cpetersen1970 Thank you. I guess this design could be marketed for self defense as well 🙂
Nice spoon. As a bean spoon, does the design of the handle indicate the handle has a second function? It not, still very cool.
