I fully intend to work my way through the series, making everything Paul does.

But I had to start somewhere and I decided to start on the tote because it’s most useful to me at the moment.

Good one, Max. I wanted to do the same thing, but I skipped some projects (like the tote) that I had no need for. I’ve skipped around a bit, but I know I’ve missed some very good practice on housing dadoes and other techniques. I think it will serve you well to work your way through the series.

Nice one. It was also the first project I ever did.
What kind of wood did you use?

I used some pine offcuts laminated together into boards then varnished it… It’s quite a simple project but very useful!

Nice job Max. What are you planning to do next? I’d suggest the dovetailed boxes as a good next project.

The boxes can provide you a nice place to put some tools.

It’s not an exact science A-Z in terms of project difficulty, but good luck!

I am building them in the order that they appear in the video list on my phone so the dovetail box is next. The great thing about the tote was that it took about 7 hours which includes two coats of varnish. I confess… having worked as a “professional” joiner I’ve made very few dovetails and Paul has showed me light on how to make them better.

I hope I can do a good job on the box. I’m away clearing a dead loved ones house and his furniture is all being thrown away but I intend to get some wood and give it a new lease of life.
