I work as a machinist and we have a cold saw. This machine uses 13″ super high speed steel circular blades coated with a titanium nitride coating. The blades have a tooth count of 240 teeth and spin around 30rpm. We use it to cut stainless steel parts and every now and then it comes down to hard and cracks the blade. I was fortunate enough to salvage the blade and I made a little plane iron with it.
This stuff is M42 steel and is super hard. I cut it with a pneumatic cut off wheel, milled it with a (2) carbide 6 flute end mill, and a belt sander to finish it off. All this took a while….
