I like that a lot.
Now you need the bits.
You want to see the state of my old one.
Where did you find Brace?
Just had a go of my old brace think jaws knackered very hard to get bit out.
Thanks Ken.
Spring in jaws not very responsive. Not been used in long time.
I’ve had Stanley wooden handled brace for over 20 years and I bought that second hand.
Mark-
What model of Stanley brace is yours? I bet you could take it apart and figure out what ails it right quick.
Three braces have followed me home. One brace is in a handy 6″ size, and the two others 10″ braces. Not terribly pretty, but they are good workhorses when pressed into service. I usually keep a counter sink bit in the 6″ one so it is always handy.
It’s the spring holding the jaw lost its spring if you know what I mean.
Probably where I left it in a tightened state Stanley 10″ ratchet wooden handles.
Brace has got some numbers on it. Have a look another day.
I found this old 1 1/2″ centre bit Buck & Hickman cast steel. Company been going for 180 years so who know how old bit is.
