I had the pleasure of attending The Woodworking Show in Springfield, Mass (US) yesterday. The show was great – lots of vendors and presenters, and it looked like it was well attended. Of course the highlight of the day was sitting in on a couple of presentations by Paul Sellers and then meeting and talking with him for a bit. I think our woodworking community is pretty lucky to have a guy like Paul doing what he does. I would encourage those of you in the US to attend a show if you have a chance. The website for more info is http://www.thewoodworkingshows.com.

14 January 2013 at 2:26 am #6479I would echo the same to those of you who have not attended the show. It’s a lot of fun to see all the interesting things people are doing in woodworking. I was not able to go due to work obligations, but will definitely try to attend in future years.
Good luck trying to get younger children to the shows Paul. I think that is a great idea. woodworking has been a good pursuit to enjoy time with my son, and the use of hand tools makes it so much Moore possible.

I am going to try to make the show in St. Louis in February.

I went to the show in Springfield on Saturday and specifically to see Paul. He didn’t disappoint me at all. I stayed and watched 3 demos and although I had seen videos of him doing the demos, seeing it in person made a difference. I got to see the bench and check it out. I got to see Paul work with it through the 3 demos. It amazed me the ease with which he did what he did.
If you have chance you should attend a show if you can.

I was looking at the Woodworking Show upcoming schedule, and read where Paul was only scheduled for the first 4 shows. I assume that means he will not be at the St. Louis show in February.
On the latest blog entry, it is indicated that he will be at the Dallas show. Is that March 8-10 show? Also, are there any other shows where Paul will be over the next few months?

15 January 2013 at 9:02 am #6544Hi @crance,
We initially negotiated withe The Woodworking Shows for just the first four shows. Paul has spoken to them in the last 48 hours and agreed to attend some of the others. I am not yet sure myself which ones but I am sure it will be announced both on the show’s website and Paul’s.
I do know that he will not be attending the Denver CO show.
Sorry I cannot be of more help.
Over on Paul’s blog, Paul discussed doing a special section at the New England show (Saturday, 2pm) on training children. In the comments we discussed having it filmed. Does anyone know if this happened? Or is it going to be an in-shop special?

15 January 2013 at 11:25 pm #6563Paul ands I discussed the possibility of filming it but decided we should film it seperately when he gets back to the UK.
It can be really challenging to present to an audience as well as the cameras without either feeling left out or disengaged.
Remind us to do though as we have a long list…
Hey Joseph (@admin),
I know you guys are really busy working through classes, etc. Just wanted to remind you about this training children in woodworking video idea. I for one would love to see it, and it would find immediate application in my home, where we are homeschooling our seven children.

12 April 2013 at 4:52 pm #10845Thanks for the reminder. I spoke to Paul about this a few days ago and although we have not had chance we are still planning on doing it but sadly haven’t managed it yet.
