Just wanted to say hello! My name is Chuck and I live in Wisconsin, in the USA. First learned of Paul last winter.
I’m the son of a carpenter. Both my older and younger brother are carpenters. Throughout my working life I considered myself a carpenter. Although to keep the bills paid I worked in many phases of construction. Many of which didn’t involve touching a piece of wood.
Unfortunately I haven’t worked for quite some time. A severe case of Chronic Lyme disease has severely affected my health. And pocket book. Because of my free time I watch alot of YouTube stuff. Not all of the nonsense but the more educational stuff.
I’ve watched all of Paul’s stuff on YouTube. Joined the Masterclasses and have been watching those videos. I’ve built a set of sawhorses partially influenced by Paul’s. Needed something to make my miniature workbench project go easier.
I’ve rambled long enough! Time to thank Paul and his whole crew for everything they’re doing. I only brought up my disability to try and emphasize how much this all means to me. Showing these centuries old techniques has breathed new life into me. Though it’s a little tougher go for me. Back working with my hands is a great blessing. Not needing to purchase power equipment for thousands of dollars is incredible. The revelation of these hand tool techniques borders on the spiritual.
I’m 57 and this old dog is learning plenty of new tricks. Hope to start asking questions and giving feedback to the community soon!
Thanx
Chuck
Welcome Chuck,
I’m fairly sure that you will like it here as Paul is a great teacher and has a great crew helping out.
I’m a lot like you as my father and most of my uncles were carpenters. I started woodworking at about the age of seven. I got away from it but have been back at it for some years and really enjoy it.
