Not my day, just dropped my Lie Nielsen block plane, and oops. The stud has broken off right inside the planes body. I have sent them an email to see if i can buy the front knob on its own.

I dont do it often but I hate dropping tools.

Ouch!   Is the threaded part broken off inside the body?

Dave I’m not sure that it is threaded buddy, as I was never able to unscrew it. The plane has a fixed mouth, so it’s not used for adjustment.

    Cheers

Thanks Johan, the plane is still usable, but it sure feels funny. 🙂

I have just had a reply from Lie Nielsen, and if I send the plane back to them they will repair it free of charge.

Or they will send me a replacement knob, but as it is stuck in they recommend I return it to them.

Now this was my own fault, and they will still repair it FOC, now that is great service.

That is great, it’s hard to get good customer service like that these days.

Wow, just had a quote for shipping £32.12 to send the plane back to them.

Lie Nielsen will pay the return shipping. I will have to think about this one.

Yes that is a lot for shipping. Not sure what ebay shippers are using to ship from UK, I usually see the shipping cost around  £15-£20 to the US.

Ok Lie Nielsen are going to send a replacement front knob, as I’m not going to pay £32 for shipping the plane back to them.

Now I have to get the broken bit drilled out. Still great service from Lie Nielsen

Oh you have to hate when that happens, I think most of us have been there. You can’t beat LN or LV for Customer Service they are on top of their game.  I don’t blame you for not wanting to send the plane to them, shipping is getting really expensive.

Good luck on getting the plane fixed I wouldn’t think it would be a big deal to find some one to drill that stud out.
