Plane blades only

This in not my work, but I thought some members would be interested in this. This mahagony headboard and footboard was made by a craftsman in South Sudan. Most of the work was done with nothing more than a plane blade held by hand. The rough shape is done with handsaw relief cuts and the plane blade hammered with a piece of scrap mahagony. The pattern was transfered from a cardboard template and then cut freehand with a plane blade.
How many of us might put off starting a project because we do not have a certain tool , it did not stop this guy, as my mum would have said “Were there is a will there is a way”
Some of that work requires a pretty keen edge. Wouldn’t you love to know how he hones?
