looks nice Dave if you use shellac to finish make sure you dont wet it when watering your plants as shellac isn’t great with water sitting on it.

Poly is better for this I don’t like it but its better sealing. Swmbo will like it I am certin.

As far as the finish goes, shellac isn’t the most durable but I’m going to be trying out these new shellac flakes I purchased along with an antique pine wax from liberon. I’ll be sure to keep water off it.
@jochs99 – when I read you’re making a bench I thought you were talking about some place to sit lol
My next project is going to be a tall plant stand of some sort.
Sorry about that. I have been calling it a bench because of the size, but it’s basically the same thing you are making here.
It’s going in front of 3 windows we have that are about that length (6 ft) and it will have plants and a little planter box for cooking herbs, etc…
That’s nice, good proportions and graceful lines. I think it will look good however you finish it.
