Welcome! / Forums / General Woodworking Discussions / Tools and Tool Maintenance/Restoration / Plough plane (s)
Hello,
I’m new in the forum! After passing my 40s I’ve decided to jump into what has been attracting me since I was a kid, which is the woodworking. In a very awkward way of doing the things, I made my own workbench following just my common sense. I ended up with something that, indeed, is not that far away from what many people around describe as a functional workbench. So in pretty happy with it. Since then, I’ve been collecting more and more tools (driven by my needs… But also a bit of connectionism) and finding that, indeed, I’m way more attracted to hand working that using power tools.
So now, I’m finding myself looking for a plough plane. I read and watched many opinions, and found that the most frequent winner is the record 044. I’m also considering the 13-052 and the 405. And about the latter, I would like to ask:
-how it performs in terms of making groves?
-isn’t too bulky -heavy?
And of course, if someone share his/hers general experience with it, it’s be really welcome!
Many thanks in advance!
