The price of tools, hand tool especially, seem to be going up on a weekly basis. I have just been looking on Workshop Heaven, they have some Items that have jumped up in price by 4 pounds from a few weeks ago. Axminster Tool are another one, I wish my Income went up as fast.

they all know what we have asked santa for so they are putting the prices up if you email them and ask why they have gone up maybe you will get a bit of a discount it can’t hurt to ask, loyal customers are hard to come by and these companies need to realise they can’t take advantage of the gift buying season.

,Ken, I think I saw that workshop heaven have a free shipping offer going on at the moment. Lee Valley do it several times a year too. These offers help to defray the cost a little.
Eddy I don’t think loyal customers mean anything to them these days, take it or leave it, is the norm.

Now Paul has mentioned workshop heaven, prices will probably go up even more. HaHa 🙂
I am not saying that this is what these guys are doing, but…
It is not uncommon for some vendors to raise their prices a bit so that when they offer the holiday specials they make you feel better about buying at their previous regular prices. Puts you in that holiday spirit to grab it up and buy it now!

you’re right Ken each time Paul mentions a tecnique or tool ebay seems to go mad i think i’ll ask him to mention something i’m trying to get shut of he must be doing great for tool sales (i wonder if he’s on commission) only joking of course .

,Thankfully, with vintage hand tools, second-hand doesn’t have to mean second-best. That said, I reckon eBay prices are edging up too.
I think Paul has shown you really don’t need a huge set of tools, but I’ll admit we are all ‘tool magpies’ to some extent, myself included.
After the pre – Christmas spending frenzy – comes the post Christmas credit card debt hangover. The same firms will be having a slow January/February – simply defer purchase till the slow times. You might be in a better position to get a good price!!
